In Memory of Mihyar Shihadeh (a beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend)

Sadaqah Jariyyah Water Project in Africa

Target: $5,000

It is with the heaviest heart to write that our beloved Hajj Mihyar (Abu Ameer) Shihadeh has returned to the Lord Almighty on the evening of November 22, 2020, after losing his battle to COVID-19 at the age of 52.
Losing a loved one, losing a parent, during this pandemic is one of the most excruciating and heart-wrenching experiences one can face. With government restrictions on funerals and hospital visitations, it’s made the grieving process for any family immensely difficult. Hajj Mihyar is survived by his lovely wife, Rima, and his children: Haneen, Ameer and his wife Dina, Mohammad, and Adam.
Our father was truly one of a kind, who can never be replaced. His death was a modern-day tragedy which had a profound impact on the community. If you knew Abu Ameer, it was an honor being in his presence and it was an absolute privilege knowing him. To honor his legacy, his faith, and pay final respects, The Shihadeh Family is partnering up with HHRD to build a deepwater well in Somalia. It would be an honor if you can join us in honoring his beautiful, giving soul.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased)” [Sahih Muslim – Book 13 – Hadith 4005]

Give the Gift of Water to Honor Our Father’s Memory

In 2019, HHRD provided 1 million beneficiaries, in 13 countries, with clean drinking water.

Somalia Needs Water Projects

Clean water is critical for the survival of human beings, especially for the development of children.

Around 50% of the population does not have basic water supply. Water is purchased from private suppliers, which is expensive, or families fetch water from far and unsafe open water sources. While men go out to earn for the family, usually young girls help their mothers to get water. Due to this many of them school, and this hard labor has a negative effect on their health. In some instances, these women and girls are assaulted on their journey.

Your Support Can Help Countless Families

When you help, a family receive water the impact if far greater than you can imagine.

We can come together to support a water well with shallow water pump for one community in Somalia that will help countless households. Girls and their mothers will no longer have to travel long distances, saving for them time, energy, and health. Your support will provide an opportunity for an education, employment and a healthier lifestyle. In the last three years, HHRD has done over 60 water projects in Somalia.

When you support this Sadaqa Jariyyah project, in honor of Mihyar Shihadeh, there is everlasting reward for him, and Insha’Allah for all those who participate in this noble cause.

More About Our Beloved Mihyar Shihadeh

In the summer of 1968, Hajj Mihyar was born in the village of Al-Judiera, located in West Bank, Palestine. After his marriage in 1989, Mihyar immigrated to the United States in 1991, where he would spend over half his life pursuing the American Dream with his lifelong partner.

During the time of his pursuit, Mihyar was an extremely hard-working entrepreneur and made it his mission to earn his living in the most honest of ways. He wanted to build a home where it was full of peace, joy, and where all are welcome. If I can describe our father briefly and let all into the extraordinary person that he was- our father was the most honorable of gentlemen with the most upstanding character. Our Dad always wanted to do the right thing even if that meant the ultimate sacrifice. Our father was a social butterfly who loved people. He was a bright light, a ray of sunshine, and full of life. Everywhere he went, he made sure to make you smile, feel comfortable, and at home. Our Dad was the most giving of people, he would always help people in the quietest of ways. Our Dad was the ultimate jokester who loved to make people laugh- his laugh was infectious and you know he was having the time of his life when his beautiful green eyes sparked with joy. He loved traveling and seeing the world- he was the best travel companion.

Also, we want to let you in on his three passions that made his life beautiful and worthwhile. 1st passion was: Islam. Our father was a spiritual soldier for Islam. He would do anything for the religion that he loved and would educate people on how beautiful his faith was. He knew this life was temporary and he made sure he did everything humanly possible to earn a ticket to paradise, the place where he always ran away in his sleep. It was his greatest honor to pass away as a Muslim and a Hajj. 2nd passion: Family. He loved being a Dad and a Husband. He loved his family with all his heart- everywhere he went, he always told people how much he deeply loved the family he built. 3rd passion: Learning. Our father had an epistemophilic personality. He had a deep passion for learning all things and in turn educating others.
