For the 2020-2021 school year, the goal is to match $10,000 from the previous school year! Although classes are currently being conducted online due to the COVID-19 crisis- we are confident that the students will still be able to raise funds for this essential program, if we can provide them with a proper online platform to do so.
Al Rahmah School (ARS) has been facilitating the Ansar Program since 2015. This annual campaign brings together students in grades K-8 to compete in raising funds to support orphans overseas through HHRD.
How It Works
The students accomplish this in a variety of ways, by reaching out to their families for donations, giving their own pocket money, and creative personal fundraisers. The experience is a very special one for the students as they get the chance to write to the orphans and receive letters and photos back from them when possible. It makes them more motivated to raise funds, when they can put a name and face to whom they are trying to help, Alhamdulillah.
• Subsistence (includes monthly ration, clothes, hygiene kits)
• Education (includes school fee, books, school supplies and two uniforms)

For the 2019-2020 school year, the goal was to raise funds to support 21 orphans for a full year, at a total amount of $7665. On April 15th, 2020, the students raised $6834!!! ARS then decided to officially raise the goal to $10,000 (or the annual support of 27 orphans) based on how quickly students have reached the target.

How You Can Make a Difference
Every day 5,700 children become orphans. HHRD has 19,100 registered orphans in over 20 countries where they are given the love and attention they deserve. Around 1,600 are still waiting for sponsorship.
HHRD is a global humanitarian organization responding to human sufferings in emergency and disastrous situations all over the world regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, class, and religion. Ranked among the top 5% of 9,000 NGOs, HHRD has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator over the past seven years.
It is also a unique opportunity to give the entire Al Rahmah, and Baltimore community, a chance to come together for this excellent cause during this global pandemic.
