Kenya Borehole Project

#Kenyaborehole

Target: $115,000

“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And Allah is All-Sufficient, All-Knower.”[Al-Baqarah 2:261]

By the grace of Allah and the contribution of our generous Dallas donors, Helping Hand installed a Borehole in Madogo Kenya for the communities affected by the drought in Tana River County in 2019. The Borehole has provided clean water for 20,000 + families in the vulnerable community and has given them access to safe and adequate drinking water. The overall health, sanitation, hygiene of this community has significantly improved through this borehole installation.

Contribute to the borehole to improve the quality of health and life of 30,000+ families in Ngatataek Kajiado, Kenya.

What is a Borehole?

Boreholes have been an alternative source of water in areas, where there is no ready supply of fresh water. A borehole is a narrow shaft bored in the ground, either vertically or horizontally. Boreholes help give vulnerable individuals access to safe clean drinking water. This reduces deaths related to water-borne diseases, will improve quality of life, and help economically, and socially develop the region

Why This Location

The water shortage in the country also means that a large population of women and children spend up to one-third of their day fetching water in the hot sun from the nearest fresh water source. This backbreaking work leaves roughly half of the country's inhabitants vulnerable to serious dangers. In addition to exposure to the elements and the risk of attack by predators, the primary water gatherers are also the most susceptible to water-borne diseases.

What We Can Achieve Together

  • Provide access to clean drinking water and improve the health of the population through the promotion of hygiene, sanitation, and safety.
  • Improve the health status of 30,000 families including people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans, widows, & vulnerable children, and families.
  • Reduce cases of water-related diseases and death
  • Over 30,000 families will acquire improved hygiene practice, less stress & improved quality of life
