Albania Earthquake Relief


Emergency Relief Program: A 6.4 magnitude earthquake, the country’s deadliest, rocked the country of Albania and its surrounding areas claiming the lives of 51 people and injuring 2,000 on Tuesday November 25th, 2019. Over 4,000 have become homeless as they seek shelter in hotels or have moved into the areas of Eastern Albania and Kosovo.

Helping Hand USA has launched its “Albania Relief Fund” to help the victims of this tragic earthquake. Our vetted partner NGO has begun providing essentials such as water, nonperishable foods, and medicines. However, more help is needed.

 


Affected Areas:Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania.


Situation on the Ground: The earthquake damaged more than 1,465 buildings in the capital of Tirana and around 900 in nearby Durres. Hundreds of aftershocks were felt, some as large as 5.0 magnitude, causing citizens to run in fear.


We will continue to monitor the situation and work with our vetted partner NGO to provide immediate emergency relief to the victims of this tragedy. Let’s open our hearts and our hands to help those who have lost everything.
