The number of orphan refugees has been on the rise due to natural disasters and manmade tragedies around the world. They have lost their families, their opportunities, and are dependent upon the support of others for basic survival needs. Children with disabilities especially are overlooked when they need the most support. These innocent little lives are already filled with strife and struggle. With proper support and care, these children have a chance to do more than survive.
The refugee camps in Jordan are home to hundreds of orphans and children with disabilities from Syria and Palestine. In 2024 the numbers of children entering refugee camps have already increased. These are children who have lost their parents. They have lost their support systems. They have faced unimaginable trauma and heartache. They have lost the carefree beauty of their childhood. Yet, they persevere. They are surviving. They deserve to thrive. Together, we can give them that chance.
