An estimated 28,000 people have been temporarily displaced in 10 evacuation shelters. Over 92 people have died and over 3,000 are injured. HHRD is providing essentials for families suffering from the aftermath of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked the West Sulawesi province of Indonesia on January 15, 2021.

Families have become homeless overnight and are left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. As a starting response, the HHRD team on the ground has provided dignity packages for over 300 families, distribution of provisions for even more families is in progress. Authorities are searching for individuals lost within the rubble!

In 2018, HHRD responded to two massive earthquakes that hit Sulawesi by meeting the needs of children, the elderly, and earthquake victims with the help of local vetted partner NGOs. In the immediate aftermath of those earthquakes our teams and volunteers helped authorities and local officials provide much needed food, shelter, water, and medicines to the victims.
