An estimated 1.9 billion people live in areas where water is scarce. Lack of safe drinking water is one of the world's leading problems and Sub-Saharan Africa has the largest percentage of residents suffering from lack of access to clean water. Unclean water is a leading cause of child mortality; it robs people of health and education, and oftentimes locks them in a cycle of poverty.
For our senior class project, we have joined Helping Hand for Relief and Development’s (HHRD) efforts to provide access to clean drinking water to those in need. Within the past 7 years, this program has improved access to clean drinking water and sanitation for over a million people in Afghanistan, Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal, Jordan, Lebanon and Pakistan. Every donation counts and no amount is too little. All your help will not go unnoticed and you will be rewarded with good deeds. May you and your loved ones stay safe and Ramadan Mubarak!
Give the Gift of Water
On average women in Africa walk 3.7 miles, one way, in search of water while leaving behind young children to fend for themselves. Often from infected sources, these mothers return with contaminated water. An estimated 790 million people lack access to improved water sources. This results in malnourishment, water borne disease, dehydration, and in many cases--death.
HHRD helps people gain access to clean water for daily consumption and irrigation purposes through construction and rehabilitation of water supply schemes as part of our Water For Life, and Water and Sanitation Hygiene programs. Make A Wave of a Difference: Together we can help countless families receive the gift of water. Each water well serves between 700 to 900 people! Join our cause and help support families in Africa.
HHRD is a global humanitarian organization responding to human sufferings in emergency and disastrous situations all over the world regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, class, and religion. Ranked among the top 3% of 9,000 NGOs, HHRD has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator over the past seven years.
HHRD’s philanthropic programs have not gone unnoticed, we are ranked among the top-rated Zakat Eligible Charity in the USA. HHRD received an overall score of 98.23 out of 100, reflecting the trust HHRD has earned with US based donors
