Rohingya Relief

Rohingya Relief

Cox’s Bazaar in Bangladesh is home to an estimated 1 million Rohingya Refugees living in 35 refugee camps making it one of the densest camps in the world. Weather conditions, lack of shelter, food, and medical assistance are all factors to a lifetime of struggle and difficulty. The Rohingya refugee camps are the densest refugee camps in the world. With almost a million-people residing in these camps, COVID-19 can have a devastating impact.

With an uncertain future, the Rohingya remain in an extremely perilous situation.

HHRD Relief During Camp Fires

As of April 6th, 2021 over 12,000 have received medical assistance and over 2,000 have received food packages along with kitchen essentials.

On March 22nd, 2021, a massive fire engulfed the Balukhali Rohingya refugee camp in southern Bangladesh, destroying thousands of shelter homes, tents, medical clinics, children learning centers, and other amenities. These fires have left around 50,000 Rohingya Refugees homeless. In May of 2020, a similar fire hit Camp 1 located at Lombashiaghona; and then earlier this year in January 2021, major fires destroyed hundreds of homes in Nayapara camp. HHRD immediately announced the “Rohingya Camps Disaster Response Campaign”, and appealed for immediate assistance from our donors.

There is an immediate need for medical assistance and essentials such as clothing, food, and kitchen items.
