Currently, there are over 267,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and more than 5,600 deaths in Pakistan (as reported on 23rd July 2020). Since the pandemic hit the area lock-downs of many businesses including private and public sector offices, local shops, and academic institutions have threated an estimated 8.51 million daily-wage workers from being able to provide for their families.
HHRD COVID-19 Response: Towards the end of March 2020, HHRD began providing COVID-19 Relief in over 20 countries, including the refugee populations across the globe, with major intervention in Pakistan. HHRD, as always, has stepped forward to address the needs of daily wage workers and other vulnerable families with food support, medical support, accompanied by In-Kind donations of medical equipment to government health administrations including PPE kits for frontline responders.
Moving Forward HHRD COVID-19 Response in Pakistan Will Include:
- Home Based Care Kits: to prevent hospitals from being overburdened
- Reverse Transcription - Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Tests: to detect COVID-19 in a timely fashion
- Personal Preventative Equipment: for frontline workers
- Dignity Kits: food provision and hygiene packets for daily wage working and needy families

Over a Decade of Service: The devastating earthquake of 2005 was HHRD’s first humanitarian assistance project in Pakistan. HHRD was registered as an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) in 2016 and has continued to work for the past 15 years on several programs and projects throughout the country.
